My Travel

I have finally arrived at our house/apartment after 30 hours getting here from NZ. We are staying in this house/apartment for 2 days. Our house overlooks a cool little lake!

Just been for a walk to the lake. It has the biggest island in a lake in Europe. 

Have been to a town Pisogne, it was awesome and we drove 1.1km above sea level at a mountain called Montecampione. Going to Austria tomorrow.

In Austria now.

It is awesome! I have been to the largest ice cave in the world.

I have seen 5 wild deer, 1 poisonous lizard, it has yellow spots over its black body.

My mum has seen 2 squirrels and a Badger!   

We are now in Austria. We live on a mountain called Gahberg. Our apartment is 850m above sea level. Our place overlooks a lake called Attersee. We have lived in this place before as we stayed in this place on our last trip in Europe.

Wolfgang(the owner) farms deer the Alpha males name is Heman. Last night there was a huge thunderstorm with lightning (cool).

When we walked down to the lake we saw a snake, my brother James was very scared. I also

The ice castle was cool to, that started when a humongous crack in saw a fox!

The lake is Awesome.  Most of the female deer are ready to give birth.

 I have been watching Tennis in my free time.

My mum saw a wild deer, a Badger and some poisonous lizards!

We have been to the largest Ice cave in the world, there are no ice caves in New Zealand.

Our guide’s name was Felix, the temperature was 0 degrees Celsius. We saw awesome ice formations like the ice elephant, it did not really look like an elephant but obviously to some people it did look like an elephant. the roof of the ice and all this water poured into the cave and it all froze to make it look like a castle. It looked awesome when Felix our guide walked in and lit up the castle it looked awesome when he lit up everything. We also walked underneath the ice castle in the ice corridor that was one of my favourite parts of the cave because I got to hold the lantern it was one of the old types of lanterns when it has a candle in the middle of the lantern!

I have been to a town called Hallstatt, I bought 3 little pigs. They have a salt mine but we didn’t go into it because it would have cost more than 100 euro!

I also played Mini golf. I won in a total of 56 shots, Mum came 2^nd with a total of 60 shots, James came 3^rd with a total of 85 shots and Angus lost with a total of 119 shots. It was awesome, even better cause I won though.

YAY!

Today we went to a wildlife park called Cumberland Wildlife Park.

We saw a horses, boars, cat, racoons, swans, lizards, mandarin ducks, ducks, wolfs, goats, deer and otters that we feed they rolled over and put their paws up to their mouth when you chucked them food !

The Cumberland wildlife park is awesome!

We are going to Slovenia!

We are in Slovenia now. 

Weather is not the best, going to rain a bit this week the town has a tennis court near but do not think we will be able play much. The house also has a PlayStation. It has a river 2 minutes away from our house, it is not fit for swimming though as it is not deep enough and in the deep parts of the river had strong current!

 I have been to a place called Kranjska Gora it has an awesome little lake called Ngene plus there was a statue of a priest called Jakob Aljaz, he lived in that town.  There is a river that was ice cold, it was melted snow. I had to walk through the river it was freezing!!!!!! Then we went to Zelenci nature path there was a lake that is 5-6 degrees Celsius (freezing). The water was the colour of emerald and there were fish then we walked through the nature paths surrounding us with trees. Then we went to a beautiful town called Bled we saw a castle we saw about 20 swans and 2 geese, I also had an ice cream. There were boats to go to an island but we did not know where they left from and also they were expensive! Bled is AWESOME.                                                        

We have been to a town called Skofja Loka. We walked up to a castle but we could not go inside because it was closed. There was a very old sleigh inside a very old shed. It was raining some of the day and when not raining it was very cloudy! My brother wanted to buy a soccer ball but my father did not let him, the price was 8.45. The castle had a wall on the outside and was painted yellow with white temple patterns.

       

We have been to a cave called Postojna it had cave pillars and stalec mites and tites, some were shaped very different like waffles and also very weird shapes like broccoli and other weird things like that the cave tour was awesome as we got to go in a train for over half of the cave tour. After that we walked to a place that ha all these types of cave creatures there were Salamanders. Salamanders are cool and back 300 years ago the humans thought Salamanders were baby Dragons. Then we walked to a place that had all these butterflies on display, most of them I had never seen before then. Then we drove to a castle we did not go inside because it cost quite a bit of money. There was a souvenir shop that sold real crossbows, razor sharp swords, spiked maces, muskets and ice creams!   

Thursday and Friday

We have been to a place called Vrata valley. We went to a waterfall, we walked up to the top of the waterfall. There was a path going behind the waterfall but we did not go behind the waterfall because apparently it was too slippery. After that we drove off to the anthill. In Europe the ants build a hill about half a metre tall and 40cm wide. There are about half a million ants in one hill. The queen ant lives in the bottom corridor.  Then we went to the Hummocky meadows. At the meadows there are great views of the Julian Alps the Alps on the door step of Mojstrana the town that we are staying in. Then off we walked to a track called the alpine track because you climb up a mountain. We didn’t climb up to the top of the mountain because it was too far but my dad did walk up to the start of the glacier. On the way home we saw a wild deer.

We have been to Soca valley. We arrived after an hour drive. We saw a Russian chapel that was built by Russian prisoners of war after World War 1. The Austrian army used the Soca valley as a place to keep their Russian prisoners of war, a prison camp. We saw a sphinx in a rock cliff. Legend says that in the town of Kranjska Gora there were some maidens that told the future of baby children. One day a maiden predicted that the son of the hunter would kill the Gold-Horn a creature a bit like a very big goat with very big horns that inhabited the Julian Alps. The other maidens were angered by this so punished her by turning her into stone. We saw the source of a river it was a quarter of a metre ledge so we didn’t go the whole way. Then we had an ice cream. Then we drove to the Soca gorge its water was so blue unlike most waters in Slovenia because most other waters in Slovenia are crystal clear. Then we drove Boka waterfall a 106m drop. We met some Americans when we were just about to come down. My mother started talking to them for 15 minutes. After that we drove home.

 

I have played tennis, I won all the games that I played. After that we drove to Lake Bohinj but we could not get there because there was a major car crash, do not know if anyone died but we did see a really smashed up car! So we made a u turn and drove to Lake Bled. We walked around the lake and then I read my book for an hour. Then I dived of the jetty the lake was warm. Then we drove to Lake Bohinj this time it was all clear to go through. We saw lots of fishys. Then I dived of Lake Bohinj jetty. The water was ice cold my brother James was nearly screaming because it was so cold. There was a statue of a Gold-Horn at Lake Bohinj too. After that we had a 50 minute drive home.

Going to Croatia!  

 

 Saturday

In Croatia now. We live in a town called Starigbad 200m away from the sea.

Have been to the beach, water is very nice. There is a tower on the beach that was made in the 16th century to protect the Croatians from the Turks!

Sunday

 Have been to the beach and went for a swim in the sea. I found 1 Kuna, the Croatian currency.

We saw a jet-skier on the sea-side.

 Monday

Have been to a town called  Sibenik we walked around town. There was a fountain with about 30 turtles inside the fountain. They were swimming and some were sunbathing on the emerald green moss. We bought an ice cream by St James Cathedral a very old cathedral. We then went Primosten we had a swim in the sea and I saw about 100 fish most of them were clear with a black stripe near their tail. Some were clear with 3 black stripes too. Then we drove to a town called Trogir, we had a walk around town. There was a castle called Trogir Fortress, we did not go inside the castle because it was getting late and we did not want to get home to late. 

Tuesday

Today we went to Pag Island, an island that is covered with rocks and it is very hot even though every day it is over 30 degrees now! At Pag my brother lost his drink bottle, for the 3rd time this holiday so he now has a big 1 litre bottle. We had an ice cream on Pag Island. We did not do much on Pag. After that we went home and had a swim in the sea.  

Wednesday

Today we went to Plitvicka Jezera national park. We did 7km of walking today.  We saw heaps of waterfalls some spurting out of grass some flowing down cliffs. My mum took about 500 photos(not exaggerating). There were heaps of lakes the nicest Gradinsko lake, that had heaps of waterfalls. My Dad thinks that the Lake Gavanovac was the nicest because it had very nice grass waterfalls on the tiny lake. There were heaps of fish. We went on a bus at the start and at the end, the one at the end was way nicer because it was smooth but the one at the start was vibrating. We also went on a boat ride and we had 2 ice creams! We went home and ad a swim at 8:30 at night.

Thursday


  Today we went to Rab Island. We went over on a ferry. Rab is not at all like Pag, smaller, more vegetation and far nicer. We bought a soccer ball, a Manchester United ball(I did not pick). We went to Paradise beach. It was sandy unlike most beaches in Croatia, most are stony. Paradise beach is the most popular beach on Rab island. I enjoyed Paradise beach the most because the water was so warm and shallow and today it was very hot, 36 degrees! 


Friday

 

Today we went to Krka National park. We went swimming. I got smashed by a waterfall, it was cool. I went into a cave that looked quite cool, it was small.We arrived at Krka on a boat. I sat on the bottom level.     

We walked in a big loop, James went the wrong way and the first thing he said when I caught up to him was

"you guys are slow-pokes". We saw heaps of fish. There were Wolves, Jackals, Beavers, Bats, Salamanders and other cool animals!

Saturday 
 

GOING TO KOMARNA, another Croatian town!

Today we are going to another house in a town called Komarna.

We stopped on the way at the Salona ruins. Solana was a Roman city that was the Capitol of a Roman district Dalmatia. Solana reached 60,000 people living in the city. after thet we went to Split, the second biggest city in Croatia (the biggest is the capitol, Zagreb). We had 2 ice creams. We saw 2 guys dressed up as Spartans! We went inside Jupiter's temple, Split was a Roman town too. We went through the golden gate. There was a statue of  a king who has a golden toe, if you touch it you will have good luck. I touched it! After that I bought a book. After that we drove to our new house. Our house has 9 Tortoises!

Sunday

Today we went to the beach. It has a diving board . I  jumped of the 8 metre high diving board and belly-flopped!!!!!!!!!!   

We went to another beach that was heaps flatter. We played tag.

Monday

Today we went to an island called Mljet. We went to Mljet National Park. We went to an island Monastery on a boat. We went into a church made by Monks. We walked around the whole island!!!! It was tiny. We went on a bigger boat to Male Jezero Lake (pronounced Marly Jizero). We had a swim. There was a current.

Tuesday

Today we went to the Kravica Waterfalls. We swam under boardwalks, well we actually drifted because a current pulled us through. I walked through a waterfall into a cave behind it. Angus took photos of me. It was freezing! We went back home and we went for a swim.

 Wednesday

Today we went to Dubrovnik City. There are walls around Dubrovnik city. We walked around the walls it was awesome. We had good views of the city from the walls.
I bought a book after we had finished going on the walls. We walked back to the car
We drove up to the top of a mountain and admired a view.        

Thursday   

Today we went to Korcula island. Wee went there on a tiny passenger boat. When we got there we had a look at the market. We bought nothing. The famous explorer Marco Polo was born on Korcula island we went to the site were he grew up. There is a church and tower dedicated to Marco Polo. We went inside the church but the tower we did not go inside. 
 

Going to Veli Jezenj, a Croatian village.

Today we are going to Veli Jezenj. It was a 6hr 30mn drive from our old apartment.

We stopped at the beach on the way to Pazin. We had a swim. I found 1 Kuna (Croatian currency). The temp now is making 30 look cool, it is usually 35-38 now, HOT. We also have a swimming pool.

We have had a swim and now we are going to Pazin a Croatian town. We drove to Pazin and then we went to a Castle-Museum. As soon as we walked into the Museum-Castle we saw a very old looking Catapult! Then we walked around town. We went back to the car and ate lunch. We drove home and had a swim.  

Today we went to Porec. Porec was cool. We went into a place called the Basilica. We climbed the Bell-tower it was high. About 1 minute after we got up to the top of the Bell-tower the bells started to go because it was 12 o’clock. The bells went on for ages. It was very loud. We went down the steps and then we went into the Museum. We saw all these old sculptures and Mosaics from the 5^th and 4^th Century. Then we went inside the church. It had all these old Paintings and mosaics. We had an ice cream my one had a mini umbrella on the ice cream. Then we drove to Rovinj, on the way we stopped at a viewing platform. It was not safe. At Rovinj we walked around town. My Mum bought some Jewellery. We went inside a church it was cool.

Today we went to the Pazin market. The Pazin Market happens once a month on the 4^th day of every month. We did not buy much. James got some sandals. After that we went to Labin. Labin is a town that has lots of things. We went inside a church. My Mum was bad because she took photos inside the church when there was a sign outside of the church saying no photos! There were a few cannons. Then we went to Opotij. We went down to the beach and had a swim, there were lots of crabs. Then Mum and I went and had a walk around town.      

             

Today we went to Groznjan. Groznjan is a town on top of a hill. It is called the city of art {the population is only 193.}We walked around town. It was nice. There were lots of art galleries. We looked inside most of the galleries. Piran was cool. We had a swim. I got stung by a Jellyfish!!!!!!! Then we drove to the Piran castle walls, . We walked up on the walls. I climbed up the towers. 1 was locked. We had a good view. Then we walked down to the main square. There were some monuments. I had an ice cream.

Today we went to Our place in Italy again for 3 days. After that we are going to Hong Kong for 1 day then I am coming home!

We arrived after 7 hours. We were in several traffic jams. That cost us 2 hours of driving. We arrived at our house.

Today we went to Pyramids formations. The Pyramids looked more like big 30 foot tall mushrooms. We walked a big loop and we saw a snake it fell down a bank and I saw 1 that was clinging to a tree. The snake was a little long er. Then we drove home and we had a walk to Fonteno. It was cool. Angus waved to everyone he saw. About half waved back.

Today we went to an island that is the largest lake island in the world. It was cool.  We walked around some of the island. We had an ice cream and we had 2 swims.

Today we are going to Hong Kong for 1 day we had a 12 hour flight. We arrive at Hong Kong International Airport. We stayed at the Regal Airport. We had 3 swims as the airport had a pool.
